Tripoint Geological Services is a Canadian based geological consulting company that provides services and support for mineral exploration programs, from grassroots to advanced projects. Founded in 2019 by Wade Barnes, Nils Peterson, and Darcy Vis, Tripoint is a culmination of many ideas and dreams developed over many years of industry experience. By starting with the simple idea that great companies create great products Tripoint strives to develop a place where all our employees, contractors, and service providers can work with passion, commitment, and enthusiasm. We believe that in doing so we can allow our people the opportunity to become the best in the industry, develop the best products and services for our clients, and provide for the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and community outreach.
Wade brings an excellent track record of exploration management to Tripoint through his varied experiences. His personal goal is to get the best results out of exploration projects while maintaining a safe environment for everyone to work in, and to create a place of integrity and a place for people to learn. Wade also believes in the importance of engaging and working with the local First Nations and ensuring they have confidence in the work being done is safe and environmentally friendly. Having been involved in the exploration and mining industries since 2003 he has worked on various deposit types within BC, Yukon, Ontario and Nevada. These projects include small greenfields exploration projects to large multi-drill and multi-million-dollar brownfields exploration programs. One such project was Kemess Deposit in Northern British Columbia in which Wade worked as the Project Geologist and played an active role in progressing it through to a positive PEA. For his efforts at Kemess East Wade co-received the H.H. “Spud” Huestis Award from AMEBC in 2016 for excellence in Prospecting and Mineral Exploration. Wade is a registered Professional Geoscientist registered with EGBC and is a Qualified Person, responsible for news releases, 43-101 reports, and other company disclosure. Wade holds a B.Sc. in Earth Sciences from Simon Fraser University and a Mining Technology Diploma from BCIT.
Darcy is a geologist with a broad knowledge of geology and the mineral exploration industry. Starting in geology at the age of sixteen he quickly got hooked on the concept of being paid to work in the bush, wear hiking boots, and look at rocks. In the eleven years since then he has worked on, and operated, several greenfields and brownfields projects in British Columbia, the Yukon, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Utah. His passion is to create exploration programs that run efficiently, utilize the best methods, and create the best results. He believes that in order to do that everybody must be treated equally, be given the opportunity to fully express their opinions, and be given the chance to feel pride in their work. Darcy holds a B.Sc. in Earth and Ocean Sciences from the University of Victoria and is a Professional Geologist (P.Geo.) with EGBC.
Nils is a technical geologist skilled in exploration geochemistry, geological modelling, QA/QC, spectral geology, and new technological applications in exploration. He is capable in the integration, analysis, and modelling of large data sets, finding value where commonly overlooked. Nils has led large projects and teams in regionally expansive greenfields projects as well as focused resource expansion programs. He is a registered professional geoscientist and Qualified Person, responsible for news releases, 43-101 reports, and other company disclosure. Nils has also been trained in exploration economics and geostatistics. As a father and outdoorsperson, safety and environment are always his paramount considerations. Nils holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Alberta and a master’s degree in geology from the University of British Columbia.
Carter is a senior PhD candidate at the University of Toronto, studying igneous geochemistry in the context of subduction zone magma fertility. To support this research he has conducted field work in British Columbia, Utah, Chile, and Argentina. Additionally, he has contributed to government geoscience databases including the BC Geological Survey’s MINFILE and Property File. He approaches geoscience projects with the philosophy that thorough and critical evaluation of historic and modern data is crucial to good decision making. He furthermore recognizes the social and environmental aspects inherent to responsible economic geological development. Carter holds an MSc from the University of Toronto, and a BSc (Honours and Distinction) in Physical Geography and Earth and Ocean Sciences from the University of Victoria. His interest in mineral exploration initially manifested itself as a habit of collecting inconvenient amounts of interesting rocks during childhood walks on the beach.
Alicia is an exploration geologist who has worked at many project stages, including grassroots mapping, advanced exploration, working as part of resource modelling team, and technical report writing. During this time she collected and cleaned a lot of data, which led to an interest in decreasing data waste. She is thrilled to be working with Tripoint because they are committed to modern, quality data collection while valuing their geologists observations in the field. Through her company, Flow Geodata, Alicia improves the visualization and technical quality of early stage projects by using data compilation, research, and software. She loves modernizing old data. In her spare time, she tries to modernize an old house, and roams around the mountains of Revelstoke, BC. Alicia holds a B.Sc. Hons. in Geology from the University of British Columbia and is a registered Professional Geoscientist with EGBC.
Audrey is a well-rounded technical geoscientist with skills in both hard-rock and surficial geology. She has contributed to program planning, work-flow development, data collection and results integration on a variety of mineral exploration projects since 2011. These projects include greenfields drilling of a carbonate-hosted Au deposit and grassroots exploration of polymetallic base metal prospects in the Yukon, brownfields drilling of greenstone-belt Au deposits in northern Manitoba, and porphyry Cu-Au development in north-central BC. In 2018, she completed her Master’s Degree in Earth Science at the University of Victoria, where she benefited from diverse mentorship in the fields of tectonics and structural geology, geophysics, and Quaternary geology. Following completion of her master’s, Audrey was the project geologist for Prefeasibility Study drilling at Kwanika, where she led the team to the successful completion of exploration and infill drilling to update the deposit model, down-hole hydrogeological instrumentation, overburden drilling, and an in-depth geotechnical program. Her strengths are creating a smooth and systematic work environment, making pertinent geological observations, and clear, solutions-driven communication and leadership.
Michael is an exploration geologist with experience in the Yukon and British Columbia on various deposit types and development stages. He was attracted to geology on the promise of long days spent outdoors, and it hasn’t disappointed. His passions in the industry are working in the field and generating good data in tough environments. He is delighted to work for Tripoint because he believes in their company values and approach to the industry. In the off-season, he enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and caving. Michael holds a B.Sc. in Earth Science from the University of Victoria and is registered as a Geologist-in-Training with EGBC.
Samantha is a database and GIS manager who works with clients to organize and manage their geological data. Starting in 2006, Samantha spent 10 years working as a geologist on various projects in British Columbia and the Yukon before completing an Adv. Dip. in GIS from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2017. Through working in exploration, Samantha has realized the importance of maintaining clean, well organized, quality controlled data sets and the time savings good workflows can achieve. She is excited to apply these principals and work with like minded individuals at Tripoint. Samantha holds a B.Sc. Hons. in Geology from the University of British Columbia and is registered as a Geologist-in-Training with EGBC.
Daniel has worked on over 20 different mineral exploration projects throughout the Yukon, Northwest Territories and British Columbia over his 10-year career in the industry.
